The Opportunity

About Laos Australia Institute: Australia Awards Scholarships Laos program
LAI has worked to support human resource development in Laos since 2014. Managed by Tetra Tech, it is the Australian Government's leading program for scholarships and training, as well as a source of technical advice and support to the public and private sectors. LAIās work aims to overcome barriers and challenges faced by women, people with disability, and people from other equity groups ā in support of the economic and social development priorities in Lao PDR. LAI implements a twin-track approach, mainstreaming GEDSI across all program activities while also delivering targeted activities to advance GEDSI.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake assessment scoring/ranking of applicants in the Australia Awards Scholarships Intake 2027 selection process.
- Apply fair and transparent processes to assess applicants.
- Contribute to discussions on the relative merits of applicants, following guidelines provided by Laos Australia Institute.
- Independently assess and score every eligible application using a scoring matrix identifying key criteria.
- Identify any eligibility issues that may arise and provide appropriate recommendations.
- Contribute to and provide a short assessment panel report at the completion of the process providing feedback and specific recommendations on how to improve the assessment process for future selection rounds.
About You
- A tertiary qualification from a recognised university in relevant field (e.g. education at tertiary level, development or human resource management).
- Experience developing and maintaining positive and effective working relationships.
- Experience moderating differing opinions and achieving mutual consensus.
- Experience assessing recruitment/selection/assessment and/or tendering processes of candidate performance and potential from written content.
- Experience working in a developing country, preferably in Laos.
- Understanding of the Australian and Laos higher education systems (desirable).
- Must be either a native English speaker or have advanced English skills of approximately IELTS Score of 7.5+ (equivalency) to efficiently undertake the task.
