Position Description
This Data Analyst opportunity is for a flexible and self-motivated individual that is willing to learn and grow as part of a team while providing data management, data analysis, and GIS support to projects across many service areas, including environmental site assessments, remediation, management system development, compliance and sustainability. Your primary responsibilities in this position will include producing high-quality, data-focused deliverables (tables, maps, figures, etc.) and supporting centralised environmental data management for both routine and complex projects across Australia and New Zealand. Some support with projects from the United States will also be required.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Obtaining, cleaning, reviewing, synthesizing, and visualising environmental data in an organised and concise manner.

Assisting in the management of EHS Support’s centralised environmental data warehouse.
·
Running, modifying, and developing reports and queries to ensure data quality and accuracy.
·
Assist in the production of high-quality figures, maps, and data visualisations for use in reports and presentations.
·
Ensuring standards of data quality and accuracy are met for each project.
Creating and documenting reproducible scripts to assist in task automation and the improvement of internal processes.

Creating and maintaining interactive, user-friendly, web-based data visualisation tools.
·
Investigating and procuring spatial data from publicly available sources.
Assisting with development of standards and procedures for data management process improvements.
Coordinating with internal and external clients to provide data management and analysis solutions.

Enhancing the technical capabilities of the team by expanding the knowledge base, improving internal processes, and developing innovative technical approaches.
Qualifications/Education
·
2+ years of experience managing and analysing environmental datasets.
·
Demonstrated understanding of relational database concepts and principles.
·
Experience maintaining and querying data using EarthSoft’s EQuIS, ESdat, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access and/or another database platform.
·
Experience analysing environmental data, including robust understanding of Microsoft Excel.
·
Intermediate programming experience (e.g., Python, R, and R Shiny); experience with R is preferred.
·
Ability to extract and analyse data from large data sources with differing structures.
·
Experience using ESRI’s ArcGIS software suite.
·
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail and data quality.
·
Ability to think strategically and conceptually about environmental data and develop solutions to support project objectives.
·
Willingness to learn and gain technical expertise by working on multiple projects and with experts in technical areas of practice.
·
Strong communication skills and willingness to communicate proactively, efficiently, and directly with team members.
·
Bachelor’s degree in data science, environmental science, geography, GIS, data management, or other data related field.
