The program

The International Response Team supports Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement operations during disasters and crises around the world. We monitor global emergencies and coordinate Australian Red Cross's contribution through mobilising funds, people, and relief supplies to strengthen locally-led responses. Our work spans natural disasters, protracted crises, and humanitarian emergencies, while also advocating for principled humanitarian action and contributing to learning within the global humanitarian sector.

The opportunity

You will assist the Response Team with project support and administrative tasks that help keep our response operations running smoothly. You'll need strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to synthesise large amounts of information,

You should be comfortable using digital tools, including databases and communication platforms. An interest in international humanitarian work and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion are essential.

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support, and access to other opportunities within the world's largest humanitarian network.

The impact

As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting humanitarian operations across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Your behind-the-scenes work will help ensure that emergency responses are coordinated effectively, allowing the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement to reach vulnerable communities when they need it most. You'll gain insight into international humanitarian work while contributing to a global network dedicated to alleviating human suffering in times of crisis.

Application requirements

  • For this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check, which will be organised through Red Cross.
